Welcome to our Blogspot

We are your local Preston based Catholic charity, with  no overheads and every penny donated going direct to the poorest of the poor in Rwanda. Established over 25 years ago after the 1994 genocide in Rwanda, we help in the areas of health, education, food and shelter.

What we do

We raise money locally which is sent to our four committees of Catholic lay and religious men and women in Rwanda to distribute to local projects which have been agreed by our Trustees.
Since Covid 19 forced the closure of our Preston charity shop, we now fund raise through regular giving and various events throughout the year.

How we operate

In Rwanda all the work is carried out by unpaid volunteers. Over the years, through correspondence and two-way visits, relationships have developed with our Rwandan friends.   Four committees in Kigali, the capital, and in the regional centres of Gikongoro, Cyangugu and Nyundo act as the distribution centres. These committees seek out the poorest of the poor and distribute our funds according to the needs of families or individuals. The committees send back reports and photographs of how the money has been used.

Large projects, such as the building of a piggery, classrooms, health centres or houses are vetted first by the committee and submitted to the Trustees for approval.
